Bacteriostatic Water and Solvents
Bacteriostatic water is sterile water containing benzyl alcohol, typically at 0.9 percent. The benzyl alcohol is what allows a vial to be entered more than once, which is the whole difference between this and plain sterile water, and it is the reason the two are not interchangeable in a protocol.
The solvent is what turns a lyophilized cake into a solution at a known concentration, so the volume added is as much a part of the record as the mass on the certificate. Every lyophilized product on this site needs a solvent, and this is the one stocked for it.
